SKC-RSI is now in Phase II of their 5 year Implementation grant. The grant was effective September 1, 2000 and will expire the end of August 2005.   Our Phase I grant was a 4-year Development grant.   The National Science Foundation funds the SKC-RSI Program.

SKC-RSI is now an independent site working with the following Flathead Indian Reservation School Districts; Arlee, St. Ignatius, Dixon, Charlo, Ronan-Pablo, Hot Springs, Polson, and the Two Eagle River School.   We also work with the smaller schools, i.e. Camas Prairie, Dayton, Valley View, Glacier View Christian School.

We have an Advisory Board which meets quarterly and a Steering Committee which meets every month during the school year.

The SKC-RSI program is located on the Salish Kootenai College campus in Pablo, Montana.

  • Our primary goal is to have every teacher achieve the status of "master teacher" and to have every student achieve the status of "master learner", understanding along the journey that the educational experience is a balanced effort between teachers and students.
  • The overall goal of this program is to implement a comprehensive, sustainable, adaptable system-wide reform of science, mathematics and technology instruction and learning on the Flathead Indian Reservation.
  • This will lead to increased achievement for all students and specifically emphasizes greater achievements for two groups of under-served populations in this rural setting: Native American students and girls.
