Undergraduate Research
Undergraduate Students prepare and present scientific posters during AISES convention in Phoenix, AZ. IMSI oversees two competitions a year, one at American Indian Science and Engineering convention and the second at American Indian Higher Education Consortiumn. IMSI provides judges for evaluation of posters and winners are awarded at the conclusion of the conference.
Our Goal is to provide an all-inclusive effort to promote Native American achievement at all levels of Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics Education. The Indigenous Math & Science Institute (IMSI) was formed in December of 2001. We are located at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, Montana.
There are two primary divisions within the IMSI department. The first is our preK-12 division, which works witth schools throughout the reservation. The second is our higher education division whose goal is to increase the quality of math and science education in collaboration with tribal colleges, universities and private institutions.
